We are learning about landforms in science right now, i.e mountains, islands, valleys, etc. After reading an article about oil being drilled in the Antarctic, our class had a discussion about whether it is okay to drill for oil. It was a very interesting discussion and some believe that it is harmful to landforms (such as glaciers) and other students believe it is important because it is a necessary resource. Furthermore, some students agree that it is okay to own land with these resources and others disagreed.
What are your thoughts? I welcome any 3rd grader or adult to comment on the changes that people make to the land...
